Are you looking into getting dental implants? They are one of the best options for replacing missing teeth out there. There are a wide variety of different benefits, including the fact that they prevent jawbone deterioration, last a long time, and don’t require you to put up with eating restrictions. However, if you pick bargain implants, you may be in for a world of trouble. Here are some of the dangers of getting dental implants for cheap.
Cheaper Doesn’t Mean Quality
If you are looking for prepackaged snacks or beverages, you may be trying to find the cheapest price out there. However, you shouldn’t be doing this if you are choosing dental implants. When you pick out a dentist, you are putting both your oral health and overall wellbeing into their hands. You shouldn’t be looking for a bargain. You want to have the highest quality materials. After all, they will be surgically placed in your mouth.
Osteointegration Failure
When you have quality implants, they are probably made from titanium. This is a biocompatible material, so your implants fuse to the jawbone in a process called “osseointegration.” The implants replace the root of the missing teeth to provide stability for the crowns that are placed onto the ends. If you choose implants from a material that is cheaper or a dentist who isn’t skilled, you are much more likely to experience a dental implant failure.
Hyperplasia
This is an issue known as inflammatory fibrous hyperplasia. It is an irritation that can develop when an implant isn’t fitting properly. Some common symptoms include inflammation and excess tissue around the area. Surgery is the only way to treat this issue.
Injuring Surrounding Teeth
If your implants aren’t placed properly, your other teeth can become damaged. When implants are placed along an improper axis or a dentist uses dental implants that are too large, the surrounding teeth could pay the consequences. This generally happens when a dentist doesn’t properly evaluate the history of the teeth.
Increased Spending
The initial cost of bargain implants may feel like a steal, but your wallet may end up suffering in the end. With complications comes additional treatments. Dealing with a dental implant failure or another issue can run up a large bill.
Dental implants are generally the best tooth replacement option out there, but not if you don’t choose them from a quality source. Ultimately, they will be an investment, but having a restored smile is priceless!
